Pieter joined the industry in 1965 (coincidentally in the same year that the Unit Trust industry began in South Africa) and has a wealth of financial planning and investment management experience. From those early beginnings, Pieter built a very successful financial advisory practice. He and his associates have provided financial advice to generations of families, and he is a well-known and respected businessman From the early eighties, Pieter began to effectively narrow his focus to wealth creation. In 1998 he acquired his Category II Asset Management licence and launched his own Unit Trust Fund, Appleton Prudential Fund of Funds, to cater for the investment needs of his clients. Anticipating the changing trends in the financial services legislative framework, Pieter took a visionary step and founded Destiny Asset Managers in 2003.
Ross has been in the financial services industry for the past 20 years. He started his career as a client liaison specialist at Momentum Life and he was one of the founder members of Momentum Wealth, where he served on both the executive and operational executive committees. He joined PSG in 2000 and held the position of Managing Director of PSG Collective Investments between 2001 and 2010. He served as Chief Executive Officer of PSG Fund Management for seven years, during which time he and his team established the very successful retail fund management business, which is known as PSG Asset Management. He had been heading up the retail marketing and sales of PSG Asset Management's Single Management Range for two years before acquiring a share holding in Destiny in 2013.
Gert de Villiers: Director - Business Development and Marketing
Gert joined the financial services industry in 1990 as a Production Manager at the Old Mutual Sandton Branch. He joined Old Mutual Unit Trusts (OMUT) as the OMUT Regional Business Development Manager in the Johannesburg Metropolitan area in 1991. Gert's main responsibilities and focus was to grow sales through the marketing of OMUT single-managed funds. He also served as the regional liaison between Old Mutal Asset Managers and the t Old Mutual financial planners. In 1995 he was transferred to the Eastern Cape as the regional Old Mutual Unit Trust Distribution specialist, based in Port Elizabeth. In a very challenging and increasingly competitive environment, he was responsible for establishing and growing the support base for Old Mutual single-manager funds amongst independent advisors. Gert was transferred to Old Mutual Head Office in 2000 as the Unit Trust Business Development Manager with particular focus on the Cape Town based multi-manager fund managers and high net worth independent financial advisors in the Western Cape. In April 2004 Gert joined Destiny Asset Managers to lead up the marketing initiatives.
